HOW TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT CANDLE FOR YOUR SPACE
Not every candle fits every space — size, wax type, and scent strength all factor in. Here's how to match a Luz del Mar candle to the room you have in mind.
Size and Room
The main thing room size affects is scent throw — how far the fragrance travels from the candle.
Small spaces (bathroom, home office, nightstand): a 6 oz soy candle is the right fit. It fills a compact space without overpowering it and burns for approximately 30–35 hours.
Medium spaces (bedroom, kitchen, living room): our 8 oz soy candles are built for these rooms. At 45–50 hours of burn time, one candle can carry a medium-sized space through weeks of regular use.
Large or open spaces (open-plan living areas, dining rooms): one candle won't cut it. Place two at opposite ends of the room, or pair a soy candle with wax melts near the entry point to distribute fragrance more evenly.
Soy Candles vs. Seascape Gel Candles
These are two different products and they work differently.
Our soy candles — the Puerto Rico Inspired and Floral & Fresh collections — are scented and designed to fragrance a room. Made with 100% soy wax and IFRA-compliant fragrance oils, they're the right choice when scent is the priority.
Our Seascape Gel Candles are primarily decorative. Filled with real sand and shells collected from Puerto Rico's beaches, they cast a beautiful warm glow — but their scent throw is lighter. Think of them as accent pieces that also happen to burn.
What to Expect from Burn Time
- 6 oz soy candle: approximately 30–35 hours
- 8 oz soy candle: approximately 45–50 hours
- 8 oz Seascape Gel Candle: approximately 40–50 hours
